Square Footage Calculator

A tape measure says 12 feet 6 inches, but flooring is sold by the square foot. Type 12.6 into a phone calculator and the room has grown by more than an inch on that side. Square Footage Calculator takes feet and inches in separate fields and converts them itself. Meters and centimeters work too, and one project can mix both systems, with the total in square feet and square meters.

Rooms can be rectangles, L-shapes, circles or triangles, each with a small diagram that labels the sides to measure. You add a closet as an extra section and subtract a cutout, with up to 20 rooms in one total. Overlapping sections get counted twice, so the pieces should only touch at their edges. Results live in the open browser tab until you copy or print them.

Flooring comes next: the second calculator takes that area and works out how many whole boxes to buy. You enter a waste allowance and the coverage printed on the box. The result keeps the extra from waste apart from the extra caused by rounding up to the next box.

Optional fields take your own material and labour costs. Each calculation covers one boxed product, since width and layout decide the amount for roll carpet and sheet flooring.
