Asked how February went, most people remember one bad day and shrug at the rest of the month. For catching moods while they are fresh, Mental offers what the homepage calls a ten-second check-in: you pick one of 49 feelings and can add a typed or dictated line about what happened.

Over time the entries form a visual journal and a calendar to scroll back through. A streak marks the days you checked in and lets a missed day pass, and all of it works without an account.

The AI features are optional and stay off until you agree to them separately. Memory keeps a detail from your notes as a short line, and opening it shows the entry it came from. You can reword such a memory or have it forgotten. Ask Mental is a typed or spoken conversation about your own journal, with crisis lines listed at the bottom of every chat. The disclaimer page warns that its replies can be wrong.

The privacy policy says the makers keep no copy of the journal, which syncs through your own iCloud. With AI on, your messages and the journal text they need go through the maker's relay to DeepInfra, a company that runs AI models. Apple Health sleep and step data is optional and, the policy says, leaves the phone only as rough ranges. The app is in English and needs iOS 18 or later.
