MOV Compressor
Shrink a heavy MOV video from your phone or camera into a smaller MP4 you can send
Forpeople who send phone and camera videos by email or chat Web
The video of the school play is three minutes long and too big for the family email. MOV is the format iPhones and Macs record in, as do many cameras, and MOV Compressor turns those files into smaller MP4 videos. The work happens in the browser on your own computer or phone, so there is no upload to wait for.
You pick one of three quality levels or type a size in megabytes for the tool to aim at. The resolution can drop to 1080p or 720p, or as far as 480p, and several files go through one after another. Output uses H.264, which plays on almost any device, or H.265 for smaller files when the browser can encode it. No sign-up is needed, and the videos carry no watermark.
Each file gets a check before encoding starts, and HDR video is not supported yet. Without an upload there is no size cap, and the site says it has compressed a 4.97 GB recording in desktop Chrome. It runs in current Chrome, Edge and Safari on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone, with a computer recommended for long files. The engine is built on the open-source libraries Mediabunny and FFmpeg.
Good fit if you…
- need a MOV video small enough for an email attachment or a chat app
- would rather not upload private videos to a server
