Luminar Neo

The holiday photos are home, and so are the flat grey sky and the stranger who walked through the background. Fixing that by hand takes careful selecting. Luminar Neo recognizes sky, faces, skin and water in a picture, and most of its tools then work with a single slider. GenErase removes unwanted objects, and GenExpand extends the scene past the edge of the frame.

The same app also works as a full editor, with layers, masks and a clone tool. Edits stay separate from the original file, so you can change them later. The site says it opens RAW files from over 1,000 cameras, along with JPEG, PNG and TIFF. Focus stacking combines several shots into a photo that is sharp from front to back.

The desktop app runs on macOS and Windows and can also open as a plug-in from Lightroom Classic or Photoshop. Luminar Mobile covers iPhone, iPad and Android, and Luminar Web works in the browser without installing anything. Edits started on the phone can be continued on the computer, and for now this sync runs in that one direction only.
