GearDex

After a camera is stolen or breaks on a job, the insurer's first question is the serial number, and the second is the receipt. A year after the purchase, both are somewhere in a drawer or an old inbox. GearDex keeps the serial number, photos, receipts and warranty dates next to each body, lens or drone. It tracks each item's current value and warns before a warranty ends, and a report turns the records into a PDF for the insurer.

Gear goes in by typing a model name or by importing a spreadsheet as a CSV file. Iris, the built-in AI assistant, can also add an item from a sentence or a pasted receipt. It answers questions about your kit: whether a filter fits a lens, or who still has the 70-200. A change Iris prepares, like a loan check-out, is saved only after you tap to confirm.

For shoot days, rigs group a body, lens and accessories into one setup and show the total weight and value. A whole rig can go out as one loan, and printed QR labels open an item's record when scanned with a phone. Shoot plans hold the date, location, gear list and a packing checklist.

Beyond the inventory, GearDex covers the business side of photography work: a portfolio website with client galleries, online booking, invoices and a client list. It runs in the browser and as desktop apps for Mac and Windows. On phones it is installed from the browser to the home screen, and syncing needs an internet connection.
