Fomrix

For three weeks the 3D printer has turned out the same little test boat, since anything else starts with learning modelling software. One reference image or a short written description of an object goes into Fomrix, and a 3D model comes out. It opens in the browser to rotate and inspect. The download is a GLB file with textures, plus a shape-only STL for printing and an OBJ for editing.

After sign-in, the studio asks what the model is for: general use, web and AR, a character or print preparation. The two model options, H3.1 and P1, reach from detailed geometry to low-poly meshes of 50 to 20,000 faces, the flat pieces of a 3D surface. A single picture leaves the AI to guess the sides it cannot see, so the site advises checking scale and wall thickness before printing.

Next to the generator, browser tools open STL, GLB, OBJ and FBX files or convert one format into another, and the site says the files stay on your device. STL Repair counts holes and broken edges in a mesh and removes duplicate faces. A preview then sets the cleaned mesh beside the original before the file goes to the slicer, which turns a model into printer instructions.
