Capture One

On the camera's small screen, every frame of the shoot looks sharp. A soft focus or a wrong color often shows up only later at the desk, when everyone has gone home. With Capture One, the camera connects to a computer by cable or to an iPad or iPhone without one, and every shot opens on the larger screen right away. While shooting, Live View shows what the camera sees, and edits you set once can be applied to every following frame.

The editing side works on RAW files, the unprocessed data a camera records. It offers custom camera profiles and a color editor that adjusts single color ranges. Masking finds the subject or background on its own, and Enhanced Denoise cleans up photos taken in low light. Capture One says these AI tools run on your own device and that images are never used for training.

For teams, several people can work in one session over the local network. Clients can join from any device to rate and tag images, and they need no account for it.

Photos are kept in sessions per shoot or in larger catalogs. The site lists support for more than 550 cameras, and one license covers Mac and Windows on up to three devices.
