GetWill

Writing a will is the kind of task that moves from one year's to-do list to the next. In England and Wales, without a valid will the intestacy rules decide who inherits, and under them an unmarried partner or stepchild gets nothing automatically. GetWill asks the questions for a will online, about 15 minutes by the site's estimate. A solicitor at Fifty Six Law, a firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, then checks the answers and asks if something is unclear.

The online route is meant for a straightforward will. Wills with property abroad or a business start with a consultation, as does a trust for a vulnerable person. The will counts only once it is signed on paper with two independent adult witnesses present together, and you arrange the witnesses yourself.

Lasting Powers of Attorney let people you trust decide about money or care if you no longer can. GetWill prepares the forms from your answers, and a solicitor reviews them before you sign. Attorneys can keep a dated log of decisions and money in the LPA Hub, which the site states does not confirm their authority or judge legal compliance.

The Will Vault in your account records where the signed original is stored. After a death, executors can work through the estate themselves in a guided workspace, which includes no legal advice. The law firm can also take on the grant application or the whole administration.
