You know the moment in a video call when everyone laughs, and you are still working out the sentence before the joke. In a language you only half follow, a live stream or call cannot be paused while you catch up. DubTab listens to whatever your computer is playing and shows translated captions while it plays, with an optional AI voice reading the translation aloud. It works on the live sound directly, and the site gives the delay as about half a second.

The browser extension for Chrome and Edge covers anything that plays in a tab, from online courses to YouTube and Netflix. A separate desktop app can listen to one chosen program or to the whole computer, which reaches downloaded video files and the Zoom or Teams clients. That app needs Windows 11 or macOS 14.2 and later, so older Windows machines can use the extension only. One account and one usage meter cover both.

The privacy policy says the source audio and the microphone are never saved, and that only the translated voice is kept if you switch on saving. Captions show the original line next to the translation, or the translation alone. While the AI voice speaks, the original sound can be turned down underneath it.
