ClearlyNamed
Swipe through ready-made brand names and see at a glance whether the .com seems taken
Forfounders who need a name for a new product or company Web
Like the four favourites before it, the name you just picked for the new business has a .com that someone registered years ago. On ClearlyNamed the search runs the other way round, with ready-made names shown one card at a time. Each card carries a dated DNS pre-check, a quick lookup of whether the .com address is already in use. A link next to it opens the registrar. Swiping right keeps a name and swiping left skips it, and the arrow keys do the same on a computer.
The names come in two styles: short made-up words that are easy to say, and meaningful combinations of two words. A listen button reads each name aloud, and for a closer look an AI reading suggests associations and product ideas for one name. Google's Gemini model writes these readings, the privacy notice says, and the site labels them AI-generated ideas that still need your own trademark and domain check.
The shortlist and settings stay in your browser, and using the tool needs no sign-up. A share link sends your liked names to a co-founder or friend, who swipes the same cards and can send their picks back.
Good fit if you…
- want a shortlist of names whose .com was not in use at the last check
- decide on a name together with a co-founder or friend
